Jay Woods Created Jay Woods Design in 2001. After graduating from Purchase College's Theatre Arts and Film program, I continued my education in television and architectural lighting master classes. I currently own and operate Jay Woods Design, Inc. and serve as a Professor of lighting at Purchase College, State University of New York.My professional experience includes theatre, dance, live and recorded television, houses of worship, special events and theatrical system design in addition to commercial architectural lighting.
My approach to design begins with imagination and is enhanced by my experience in implementing creative solutions that deliver fresh design content to my clients. I believe strongly in a unique approach to design that relies entirely on personal responsibility for quality from concept to conclusion.
It is my goal to continue to learn, grow and expand my client base in the future through a reputation of exceptional work.
Jay Woods’ design credits include Historic Hudson Valley’s Winter Wonderlights and The Great Jack-O’-Lantern Blaze and performances of Andrea Marcovicci, Louis Black, Bill Cosby, Greenwich Ballet Academy, Equity Fights AIDS – Dancers Responding to AIDS, DanceFest, AIG Financial Group, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Greenwich Symphony Orchestra, Village Light Opera Group, New York Stage and Joe’s Pub at the NY Public Theatre. Mr. Woods has designed lighting for renowned artist Charles Fazzino at NY's JFK airport and other locations. He has also worked as Lighting Director for the Clinton Global Initiative conference and Love in the Nick of Tyme national tour and DVD filming. In addition to his theatrical lighting experiences he has been a part of many architectural lighting projects throughout the country including the restoration of the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Toy’s R Us flagship store in Times Square NY, the Florida Museum of Natural History and the Olympic Monument Park and Olympic Museum in Salt Lake City, UT.
